Configure Child Page Block (Developers)
NOTE: The Child Page Block should already exist, and be correctly configured, in the Basic Page template in Layout Builder; however, should the block be accidentally removed or deleted--or if an additional change needs to be made to the block's configuration--the following steps will be required to restore/re-configure the block.
In order to display a fancy child page block on the Basic Page content type, follow these instructions:
- Log into a Drupal website as a System Administrator.
- In the Drupal menu, visit Structure > Content Types > Basic Page > Manage Display. On the following screen, click the Manage Layout button to proceed to Layout Builder.
- In the desired region of the Basic Page template, click Add Section [NOTE: In Layout Builder, no specific value for the Administrative Label field or Style dropdown is required in this step--simply leave the default values]. Click the Add Section button.
- Click the + Add Block link in the section you created. The Layout Builder flyout menu should then be visible on the righthand part of the screen.
- In the Layout Builder flyout menu, search for a block type called Main navigation (in two blocks of the same name are listed, select the first Main navigation block type) [NOTE: If you do not see this block type listed, you will need to disable Layout Builder restrictions in Configuration > Content Authoring > Layout Builder Restrictions.]
- Configure the Main navigation block accordingly: When done, click the Add Block button.
- Click the Save Layout button at the top of the page and exit.
After you have completed these steps, any page with child pages will show the child page block you created above when either of the Child Page View types have been selected in the page's Advanced Options tab. The specific data for a child page's options (icon, image, summary) may be set in Structure > Menus > Main Navigation.
